The profession of teaching and the role of a teacher are considered to be the best undertaking of all the trades. In Indian Literature the place of a teacher is regarded more important than the place even of God. A teacher is a person who trains and educates others. Prestige and dignity of our teachers or educators have always been very high in our country. It is so because teachers have a major contribution in shaping the future of students.
The celebration of the Teachers' Day is related with the birth day of our previous President Sarvapali Dr. Radhakrishnan, a very skilful teacher. So, the Teachers' Day has always been celetrabted on his birth day i.e. on September 5, every year.
The Teachers'Day is celebrated as an important day in all educational institutions. On this day cultural programmes and meetings are held in all centres of education. Many teachers are rewarded for their superb teaching. Children are instigated to respect their teachers and elders. Moreover teachers are persuaded to consider teaching as a holy work not a trade. As a result every student may become an expert in all respects and contribute his services to his country.
But at present, education has become a trade in India as well as in other countries. This is not praise worthy. Now politices also plays its part in selection of teachers. It is not good.
Teachers are considered to be our Nation builders. So, it is the duty of every student that he should pay proper respect to teachers. We should celebrate this day with simplicity and honesty leaving aside politics. Only then we can keep our old tradition of keeping the proper relation between the teacher and the student.
