Paragraph on "Mahatma Gandhi"

        Mahatma Gandhi is called the Father of the Nation. He was a great son of India. As a child his name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar. Gandhiji passed his matriculation in 1887. He went to England for higher studies. He studied law there and became a barrister. He always took true cases. He fought for the truth. He worked in South Africa as a lawyer. Here he had to suffer a lot because of the discrimination by Englishmen towards Indians and Africans. It was here that he started his struggle for equal rights and freedom. He was successful in his non-violent movement, satyagraha. On his return from Africa, he took an active part in the freedom movement. He went to jail several times. It was Gandhiji who started the 'Quit India' movement. He followed the path of non-violence called ahimsa. He advocated Khadi and Swadeshi movements. He devoted his whole life to the country. In 1947, India got freedom from the British. Gandhiji wanted to disband the Congress and did not accept any post. He was an eminent writer. He wrote 'My Experiments with Truth'. On 30th January 1948 he was shot dead when he was in his prayer house. His samadhi was built at Raj Ghat. Gandhiji's name is written in golden letters in Indian history.
