Man's life is full of struggle. After work man likes to play and enjoy. He plays games for entertainment. Some play indoor games like chess, carrom, etc. while others are interested in outdoor games like volleyball. football, cricket, etc. I am a cricket fan. It is my favourite game. Now-a-days many games in India are played on the National or International level. Cricket is one of them.
Cricket is a very interesting game. It is played only in some countries of the world. It has now become very popular in our country. It is so exciting and thrilling among the Indians that they may miss their food and sleep but they would not miss the joys of a cricket match. People gather at shops and other places where match can be seen on a T.V. Every one old or young, men or women literate or illiterate, wants to know the score and the changing results of a match.
The game of cricket is played on a large circular field. The ground must not be rough. In the middle of the ground a pitch of twenty-two yards long is prepared. A wicket (having three stumps and two bails) is fixed on one side of the pitch and the other wicket is fixed just opposite the other. There are two umpires to judge the match.
The cricket game is played between two teams. There are eleven players in a team. One team bats and the other team bowls and fields. When the batting of the first team is over, the second team bats and the first one bowls and does the fielding. Thus the game begins. The batting of a team goes on till the tenth man is out. Then the second team bats and score the runs. The team that scores the greater number of runs wins the game,
The bowler throws the ball to hit the stumps opposite to him. The bats man tries to strike the ball with his bat. If he succeeds in striking the ball, the two bats men run from wicket to wicket until the bowler may catch hold of the ball. These runs are counted. If the ball touches any one of the stumps, the batsman is out. If a fielder catches the ball in the air then also the batsman is out. When one batsman is out, another batsman comes to bat. The batting thus continues till the tenth man is out.
The other party then comes to bat and the game goes on as before. The party that scores the greater of runs wins the game.
Cricket is one of the good games. It is a good physical exercise. All the muscles are exercised. It makes a young man hardy and sturdy.
Most of the people consider the game of cricket as a useless game that only destroys time. Still it is very famous in many countries. And this is my favourite game.
