In the present age of machine, science has made our life very comfortable, but on the other hand, life has become unsafe and uncertain. On one side we have many fast means of traffic and travel while on the other side we daily read in the newspapers about accidents in crowded places. There may perhaps be any day when the papers have no news of any accident. Delhi, the capital of India is the foremost place in road accidents.
Actually if we try to find out the real reason of accidents, we shall see that we, ourselves are responsible for them. Our little negligence or hurry destroys us completely. Our little haste takes our life in no moment. To avoid the rules of the road means to invite an accident.
One day when I was returning from Green Park and was going to the Red Fort, I saw a very dreadful accident. It was noon. The students were returning homes from their schools. They were on bicycles. I was in a blue bus. It was moving on a low speed. On that day, the road lights on the crossing of Daryaganj were not working. So every vehicle was in hurry. Soon a truck was seen coming from Ansari road. It was running at a fast speed. A small red bus was coming from the opposite direction. In a moment I heard a big crash and loud hue and cry. The accident took place. There was a great collision. The truck collided with the small bus. Two boys were crushed under the wheels of the bus and some boys were seriously injured. Wounded persons were crying for help. Some passengers were also trying to help their mates. Some persons informed the police. Soon two ambulance cars arrived. The police reached the spot.
Our bus driver got down the bus and helped the wounded persons. Two boys had died at the spot. The haste of the truck driver as well as the driver of the small bus was the cause of the accident. Soon the flying squad arrived and both drivers were arrested. The dead bodies of the boys were sent for the post mortem. I was much grieved to see this accident.
