Paragraph on Holi

        Holi is the festival of colours. It is a spring festival of the Hindus. It marks the end of the winter season. This festival is celebrated with great fun and happiness, especially in the northern states of India. People celebrate Holi for two days. The first day, towards the evening, people collect bundles of firewood. After sunset, these heaps of wood are burnt. People worship Holi fire by throwing coconuts, ghee and rice into the fire. The second day of Holi is called Dhuleti. Dhuleti is a very colourful day. People enjoy putting coloured powder on their neighbours and friends to show their love and liking for them. At home, women make delicious food and sweets for themselves and their guests. Holi is celebrated in honour of Prahlad's victory over Holika. In other words, it is the celebration of the victory of good over evil.

People sprinkle gulal or coloured water on one another. They dance and sing to the beat of drums. People have a lot of fun on that day.
