Essay on Republic Day in English

The Republic Day is our National Festival. People of every religion celebrate it with full pleasure and delight. Our country was declared Republic on 26, 1950.  And the same day the constitution of our country was enforced.

26th January has already got its importance since early times. In 1929, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the President of Congress, declared full freedom to the country on January 26. When our country became free, our constitution was framed and was enforced in our country on January 26, 1950.

People celebrate this day at every place in the country. But Delhi, the capital of the country celebrates this day with great pomp and show. A large number of people gather on the grounds between Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate. The President of India comes in the function in his special four-wheeled carriage. Here the three chiefs of the army and the Prime minister of the country welcome him. The President then unfurls the flag of the nation. The band plays music and the twenty one guns are shot as a salute. Thereafter the three wings of the army parade the ground. The peepholes of different states move out. On this occasion brave soldiers and some boys and girls are honoured. At evening, the government buildings and the Rasthrapati Bhawan are illumi-nated with light.

The function is directly broadcasted by the television and the radio all over the world. The people who cannot go to Delhi can see the function on their television set at home. On this day special functions, assemblies, etc. are organized in schools, colleges, villages and the cities.

The Republic Day reminds us that there is a Republic government in our country. We should know our rights and duties. This festival also recollects us of those patriots who sacrificed their lives for freedom of the country. It is our duty to forget our differences and safeguard the freedom of our country and pay our valuable contribution to build our country.
