Paragraph on Monsoon

        Most of the rainwater that we get in India is because of the monsoon. In many states, farmers depend on monsoon for their farming. Farmers feel lucky when there are good rains. They feel sad and helpless when the monsoon skips away. Monsoon is caused by sea-winds that flow towards the land. Monsoon begins roughly by the first week of June. It strikes coastal areas of Kerala first. By middle of June the rains advance to northern parts of the country. Many parts of our country experience rains during July and August. The monsoon rains wets the land. It also recharges the streams and rivers. The underground water level increases because of the heavy rains during monsoon. We should plant many more trees to prevent water flowing down from hills and forests. Rainwater harvesting is another method to collect water during rain and use it later. Monsoon plays a very important role in Indian agriculture and development.
