Books are friends of the man. The place where different kinds of books are kept is called a library. Books of different subjects as English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Economics, Sociology, Science, Literature, Mathematics, different religions, health, medicine, etc. are kept in it. Of course library is a store house of knowledge.
There are three types of libraries : Personal library, Group library and Public library. Personal library belongs to some particular person e.g. the library of some writer or lawyer or doctor or politician. The owner of a group library may be some institution or society or group. The library of some religious institution, school or college comes in this category. Public libraries often belong either to some society or to the government.
Our school has a big library in a separate building. There are nearly thirty thousand books in it. The students of our School as well as the students of other schools and colleges may become its members. They may read books of their interest. The novels, the story books, the dramas and other interesting books are available in our library. Boys or girls, men or women, young or old may attend the library and read the books of their interest. Different newspapers are also available here.
Readers of the library are to follow some rules to become its member. The readers should read the books peacefully with attention. After reading the book we should return it from where we have taken. The books should neither be torn nor made dirty.
A library has many advantages. It is not possible for every person to buy costly books. A man may read as many books as he likes in a library. It is particularly very useful to poor students. They may go to a library and prepare notes upon any subject with the help of the books. A library is a public property. So, it is our duty to maintain its standard. Everyone should realize its importance.
